Hello everyone, and welcome to the very first, super-secret early issue of my long-delayed newsletter. "Long delayed" by me, that is--but now that the wheels are spinning, hopefully we'll be in better touch. This is being written not long after I receiving my most recent COVID booster, so my apologies for any feverish incoherence.
In addition to keeping you guys informed with my latest events and releases, I wanted to particularly let you know about an experiment I'm going to try starting in January: a Patreon. Although I'd considered this in the past, I never went through with it, because I could never think of any rewards that would be (a) sufficiently rewarding for subscribers or (b) something that wouldn't be a chore for me, but something I could legitimately share with a lot of joy. Now, though, a couple of those ideas have finally blossomed, and I can't wait to get started. My one regret about no longer running my own Twitter account, or reading Twitter in general, has been not getting to take part in some of the conversations about books/movies/tv that I've particularly loved, or particularly NOT loved. Well, we're going to be talking about that stuff a lot--among other rewards. Again, this won't be starting until January, and the first "official" newsletter at the top of next year will have more details.
And if you either can't or don't want to join Patreon? Never fear: the newsletter will be here to keep you posted, and hopefully I can have content to share here too, in future issues, when the post-vaccine ache in the bone marrow isn't starting to make me unduly aware of the location of every bone in my skeleton.
Currently reading: Zadie Smith, ON BEAUTY; Anna Jung, THE GRAIL LEGEND
Currently watching: "The Rings of Power," "Star Trek: Lower Decks," "Surface," and of course "Andor" (HOW GOOD IS IT, YOU GUYS, IT'S SO CRAZY GOOD)
Currently anticipating: "Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery," "The Menu," "The Fablemans" and "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever"
